Say no to housing building on our green wedge

Please sign my petition against developers' plans to build on Ingleby Barwick green wedge.

Another planning application has now been lodged with Stockton Borough Council for the building of new houses on Ingleby Barwick.

Application 13/3107/OUT is for 550 houses. Along with a further 550 houses (reduced from the 675 first proposed) expected to be submitted in early 2014 and the initial 350, this will amount to a proposed 1450 new houses.

Stockton Borough Council turned down developers’ plans for a Free School and the first 350 houses precisely because they feared a deluge of housing applications.

Fellow residents have told me they are extremely alarmed at these proposals.

We all know traffic in and off the estate is terrible at peak times and if these houses go ahead then no amount of tinkering with local roads will help with the gridlock.

We will still be left with a shortage of local school places with huge numbers of pupils bussed off the estate every morning.

Already there are not enough community facilities to serve the population (GPs, chemists, dentists, youth clubs, parks etc) and this will only make things worse.

It’s absolute madness!

Please sign my petition calling upon Stockton Borough Council and Ingleby Barwick Town Council to stand firm against plans to build on our green wedge.
