Thanks very much to the 19,000 voters in Stockton South who put their trust in Labour in the general election and to my fantastic Labour Party team who have worked so hard alongside me over the last two years.
Unfortunately what Labour were offering was not sufficiently attractive to the majority of voters in Stockton South. I wish James Wharton well over the next five years and trust Teesside will benefit from his new role in government.
We’ve spoken to over 60,000 people in this constituency during this campaign. I will treasure my conversations with you. It is clear to me that there are still too many people living here that feel that they aren’t on the radar of those at Westminster, and that their concerns and problems aren’t being addressed.
I’d like to assure you that Labour will keep fighting on your behalf. We’re not going away, we’ll keep on knocking on doors, having those conversations until once again Labour wins your trust.
I will be finishing any outstanding casework for residents as replies come in. Your local Labour councillors, three of them newly elected, will continue to stand up for and support our community. We’ll publish their contact details and surgery times soon.
